Sixteen years ago, the Vancouver Christmas Market was born from a simple idea: the holiday season deserved a real gathering place. Founder Malte Kluetz, who grew up with the Weihnachtsmärkte of Germany, set out to bring that authentic tradition to Vancouver’s waterfront — not a pop-up, but a curated European village built to last. Today, more than 90 handcrafted wooden huts fill the Marktplatz and Gourmetstrasse, offering artisan gifts for everyone on your list alongside original-recipe Glühwein, authentic Bavarian bratwurst, and a full range of European culinary traditions.

Step further in and the village opens up. Gather beneath the three-storey glowing Pyramid for the Prost Show, held twice daily. Ride the Christmas Carousel, join the market-wide Hans the Elf scavenger hunt, or catch the Snow Showers that fall every 30 minutes. Every corner is built for a moment worth stopping for — from the illuminated alleys to the 35-foot walk-through Christmas tree — so the photos come naturally, without having to look for them.
